The North South Way Peace Camino is supported by research collaboration with Ulster University’s INCORE (International Conflict Research Institute).
This work is exploring the relationship between landscape, shared experience, and connection, and how these elements can contribute to wellbeing, community resilience, and peacebuilding.
The initiative provides a live, real-world setting where new approaches to post-conflict recovery and social connection are being developed and observed.
The research will form part of a broader body of work examining innovative, place-based responses to complex social challenges.
Insights emerging from this collaboration will contribute to future learning, practice development, and policy discussions in peacebuilding and community development.
Impact
The North South Way Peace Camino is designed to create positive impact across communities, individuals, and the wider region.
This includes:
- supporting wellbeing and mental health
- strengthening relationships and social connection
- enabling cross-border engagement
- creating opportunities for local economic activity
- encouraging care for and connection to the environment
The full impact of the initiative will continue to develop over time as the project grows.
Creating a Lasting Legacy
The North South Way Peace Camino is intended to create a long-term legacy for communities.
It provides a shared space that supports connection, reflection, and opportunity, while contributing to wider conversations about peace, place, and community development.
As the initiative grows, it will continue to evolve, shaped by the people, communities, and partners involved.
