Peace Camino Summer Walk Series
You are warmly invited to join the North South Way Peace Camino Four-Stage Walk Series taking place throughout July and August 2026.
Individuals and groups are welcome to take part in one stage or join the full four-stage shared journey from Portadown to Carlingford.
The North South Way Peace Camino is a shared pathway from Portadown to Carlingford, connecting people and communities through canal towpaths, greenways, villages, heritage spaces, and the beautiful landscapes of the Newry Canal and Carlingford Lough.
As part of the Peace Camino experience, walkers are invited to walk as Pilgrims for Peace, standing together in support of peace, connection, hope, and shared understanding across communities.
North South Way Peace Camino Four-Stage Walk Series: Portadown to Carlingford Itinerary
Stage 1 — Portadown to Scarva
• Date: 1st July 2026
• Start Time: 10:00am
• Distance: 7.5 miles / 12.5 km
• Meeting Point: Outside Portadown Bowling Club, Pleasure Gardens, Portadown, BT62 3NW
• Planned Rest Stop: Moneypenny’s Forge
• Estimated Arrival at Scarva: 12:30pm – 1:00pm
• Hospitality venue available in Scarva
• Return Transport: 1pm to 2.30pm bus pick-up from Scarva returning to Portadown
Stage 2 — Scarva to Newry
• Date: 8th July 2026
• Start Time: 10:00am
• Distance: 10.5 miles / 16.8 km
• Meeting Point: Outside Scarva Visitors Centre, 8 Main Street, Scarva, County Armagh, BT63 6LS
• Planned Rest Stops: Poyntzpass and Jerrettspass
• Estimated Arrival into Newry: 2:30pm
• Return Transport: 2.30pm to 3.30pm bus pick-up from Newry Carnbane Industrial Estate returning to Scarva
Stage 3 — Newry to Omeath
• Date: 29th July 2026
• Start Time: 10:00am
• Distance: 7 miles / 11.2 km
• Meeting Point: River Street Car Park beside Bridge End Bikes and The Well-Bean Cafe, River Street, Newry, BT34 2DQ
• Planned Rest Stop: Victoria Lock
• Estimated Arrival into Omeath: 1:00pm
• Hospitality venues available in Omeath
• Return Transport: 1.00pm to 2.00pm bus pick-up from Omeath returning to Newry
Stage 4 — Omeath to Carlingford
• Date: 5th August 2026
• Start Time: 10:00am
• Distance: Approx. 5 miles / 8 km
• Meeting Point: Omeath Pier in front of the Grand Central Hotel
• Estimated Arrival into Carlingford: 12:00pm
• Hospitality venues available in Carlingford
• Return Transport: 12.00 to 1:30pm bus pick-up from Carlingford returning to Omeath
Participants are encouraged to bring:
• a packed lunch and snacks
• plenty of water
• suitable walking footwear
• appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for changing weather conditions

Pilgrims for Peace Pins
Pilgrims for Peace pins will be available and given to walkers on the day. We kindly ask for a £2 donation per pin. These donations help support ongoing cross-community peacebuilding work and the continued development of the North South Way Peace Camino initiative.
