The North South Way Peace Camino is designed to be experienced together. Whether you are joining a guided Peace Camino walk or organising your own group, the journey is about connection, shared experience and walking as one for peace. There are two ways to take part:
Join a Peace Camino Walk
Individuals are very welcome to join organised Peace Camino walks delivered by REACT. These walks offer an opportunity to:
- walk alongside others in a relaxed and welcoming environment
- connect with people from different backgrounds
- experience the route with guidance and support
- take time for reflection, conversation and wellbeing
If you would like to take part, you can view and register to join our upcoming walks here: https://northsouthwaypeacecamino.com/upcoming-events/
Alternatively, to register your interest in any future walks and join our mailing list please contact: northsouthwaypeacecamino@gmail.com
Organise Your Own Group Walk
Groups are encouraged to plan and take part in their own Peace Camino experience. This could include:
- community groups
- youth groups and schools
- organisations and workplaces
- friends and family groups
There is no one way to walk the Peace Camino. Each group creates their own experience. Your group journey can include:
- choosing a section of the route that suits your needs
- walking at your own pace
- building in time for connection and reflection
- creating a shared experience that is meaningful for your group
Most groups choose to walk one section of the route at a time, creating a manageable and enjoyable experience.
Planning Your Group Walk
We are here to support you in planning your Peace Camino experience. When planning your walk, you can consider:
- route options – short, medium or longer sections
- start and finish points
- group size and pace
- accessibility needs
- points of interest along the route
Popular route options include:
- Portadown to Scarva – a scenic canal section with heritage and nature
- Scarva to Poyntzpass – a shorter section, suitable for beginners
- Victoria Lock to Omeath – a coastal route with loughshore views
Omeath to Carlingford – a shorter coastal walk finishing in Carlingford
We recommend planning transport to and from your chosen start and finish points in advance. While REACT does not provide transport, we are happy to support your group in planning your route.
A Shared Experience
Walking the Peace Camino is about more than the route. It is about:
- creating space for connection
- building relationships across communities
- taking time to reflect
- being part of something bigger
Each participant can also receive a Pilgrims for Peace pin as a symbol of their journey and support for peace.
Reflective Peace Camino Walking Plan
Interested in mindfulness, building connections, or reflection?
We have created this reflective guide which has been developed to support groups walking the route independently. The activities and discussion prompts can be used throughout your journey to encourage conversation, mindfulness, personal reflection and shared learning.

Be Part of the Peace Camino Story
We would love you to capture and share your group’s Peace Camino experience. This could include:
- group photos
- reflections on your walk
- stories from your journey
With your permission, these can be shared as part of the growing Peace Camino story, helping to inspire others to take part.
